Installing RuneScape OSRS client in Linux


Create a folder

mkdir -p ~/programs/runescape-osrs

Go to this folder, and download runescape offical client jar file

cd ~/programs/runescape-osrs

Create a bash file with following content

sudo gedit /usr/local/bin/runescape-osrs

Put following content

java \
    -XX:+AggressiveOpts \
    -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions \
    -XX:+DisableExplicitGC \
    -XX:+TieredCompilation \
    -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=256m \
    -XX:+UseAdaptiveGCBoundary \
    -XX:SurvivorRatio=16 \
    -XX:+UseParallelGC \
    -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1,TLSv1.1,TLSv1.2 \
    -Duser.home=/home/USERNAME/programs/runescape/ \
    -cp /home/USERNAME/programs/runescape/jagexappletviewer.jar \
    -Dcom.jagex.config= \
    -Xms512m -Xmx512m -Xss2m \
    -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true jagexappletviewer /share/img/RuneScape3

Here is what i use

I put the .jar file in /mnt/data/programs/runescape folder instead of /home/user/programs/runescape

If you don’t have java, install it. On Ubuntu 18.04, install java with

apt install openjdk-8-jre openjdk-8-jre-headless
